Privacy notice
Short version: we collect what you type into the contact form so we can answer you, we do not sell it, and you can ask us to delete it.
Who we are
ALMA (Alianza Latina de Mentoría y Apoyo) is a volunteer community project based in New Castle County, Delaware. This notice covers this website and the messages you send us through it.
What we collect
If you use the contact form, we receive the name, email address, topic and message you type, plus the language you were reading in. That is the only personal information this site asks you for.
Please do not send us immigration status, government identification numbers, financial account details or medical information. We do not need it and we do not want to hold it.
Our hosting provider records ordinary technical information such as requests, approximate location and browser type in order to serve pages and block abuse. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies, and we do not build profiles of visitors.
How we use it
We read your message, reply to you, and if you are offering or asking for help we use it to follow up on that. We do not sell, rent or trade your information, and we do not use it for advertising.
Who can see it
Only the volunteers running ALMA. The companies that host this site and its database can technically access it because they store it for us, and they are bound by their own agreements to keep it confidential. We will also disclose information if the law requires it.
Stories and photos
We publish someone's story, name or photo only with their consent, and only in the way they agreed to. Anyone can withdraw that consent at any time and we will change or remove it.
Donations
We do not process payments and we never see your card details. When you use a give button you leave this site and the fundraising platform handles the transaction under its own privacy policy and terms.
How long we keep it
We keep contact messages while they are useful for following up, and we delete them when they are not. You can ask us to delete yours sooner.
Your choices
Write to us and ask for a copy of what we hold about you, a correction, or deletion. Tell us plainly what you want and we will do it. Depending on where you live you may have additional rights under your local privacy law, and we will honor those requests as well.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child sent us something, tell us and we will delete it.
Changes
If this notice changes we will update the date at the top of this page. Because ALMA is new, expect this document to get more specific over time rather than less.
